Art and the Chemistry of Color

Learn how science, nature and art come together beautifully through a day of creative hands-on experiences at The Frick Pittsburgh. Investigate the permanence (and vanishing acts!) of plant and mineral pigments; explore artist Elise Adibi’s Respiration Paintings, a multisensory exhibition in our greenhouse; check out rainforest plants and dry desert cactus; and help paint a fanciful, giant garden outdoors. These activities run all day – no registration required.

Register for one of three FREE special paint workshops: grind pigments, separate an egg, then make and use your own tempera paint to create a unique masterpiece.

Workshops begin at 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30. Space is limited, so advance registration for the workshops only is suggested. To register, click here.
