The idea of a nighttime open bazaar was inspired by the night markets in Asia. The market in Squirrel Hill will be from 6-10 p.m. Saturday on Murray Avenue between Forbes Ave and Bartlett St.   

The market will feature 40 vendors (glass products, jewelry, art) as well as musical and artistic performances, a fire-eater and plenty of food. Cost of foods will be affordable, and the price point is $10. Find out more

Quantum Theatre Sept 16-Oct 3


Quantum leads off its 25th season with a world-premiere baroque opera of Shakespeare’s “The Winter's Tale,” joined by Attack Theatre, music director Andres Cladera and a first-time collaboration with Chatham Baroque. Quantum leader Karla Boos prefers to call the collaboration the  “ultimate piece of theater. It’s a rich and emotional language, the language of music. I’m a believer in opera as ultimate theater,” she said.

Art Attack Pittsburgh - Sept 9


Have your heard about these events? Twelve artists compete during three rounds of public painting. Each round lasts thirty minutes. The audience will vote for the winners of each round, and the top two winners of each event.
 
The public gets to see the artistic process from start to finish (at the Rex Theater). Then they get to be involved by voting. At the end of the night, the audience will have the opportunity to purchase the artwork produced at the event.  Artwork will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to the artists. Special Event: British Ghosts in Art and Literature
The Frick Art Museum
September 10,  6:30–8:00 p.m.
 
 
As a contribution to the 2015 ‘Britsburgh’ celebration, the Frick presents a program that explores the themes of ghosts and hauntings in British art and literature.

Frick Director and British art specialist Robin Nicholson will introduce the topic with a brief talk on ghosts in British art, followed by a screening of one of the classic half hour BBC dramatizations of a ghost story by M.R. James, provost of King’s College, Cambridge, considered to be one of the great ghost story writers of all time. 

A director-led panel discussion explores the themes in relation to Pittsburgh history and traditions with Pittsburgh writer Graham Shearing and Homewood Cemetery Director of Programming, Jennie Benford. The evening will conclude with a wine reception in the art museum rotunda.
