Malpaso Dance at Kelly Strayhorn



TKST proudly presents the Pittsburgh premiere of Cuba’s own Malpaso Dance Company, and U.S. premiere of two new original works featuring choreography by the adventurous Trey McIntyre and the company’s artistic director Osnel Delgado with music by Grammy award-winning musician Arturo O’Farrill. Following their critically acclaimed international debut in 2014, Malpaso ignites the stage as the forefront of Cuban contemporary dance.This new tour marks the US and NYC premieres of Despedidaa new work by Osnel Delgado with original score by the sensational Grammy Award winning Arturo O’Farrill. Every year, Steeltown gives away over $10,000 to middle and high school students as a part of the Take a Shot at Changing the World Contest. What are your big ideas? 

Create a short video (two to five minutes) about People, Places or Things, in and around the Greater Pittsburgh Area, that have had a positive impact on S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math).  Your video can be an animation, an interview, a commercial, a comedy, a drama -- you name it!  Just be creative and have fun!

Saturday Crafternoon

Saturday Crafternoons are free DIY workshops that promote project-based learning, hands-on making, experimentation and community engagement for youth ages 5+. They incorporate STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) concepts and may be one-time, take-home projects facilitated by local artists or makers, or longer, community-focused projects. The goals are to empower youth to be confident makers, foster a love of DIY projects, promote connected learning, and activate participants’ interest in their community and city.

The Butler Institute is the first museum devoted solely to American art.. The original structure, dedicated in 1919, is a McKim, Mead and White architectural masterpiece listed on the National Register of Historic places. And it's size makes for a leisurely half-day visit.

On Saturday East End Brewing will host their first-ever Crafts & Drafts Artist Market in honor of Valentine’s Day and the release of their Chocolate Covered Cherry Stout.

W. Pennsylvania Model RR Museum

The museum is located in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, at the intersection of Rt. 910 and Hardt Rd. They promote and preserve the history of railroads in Western Pennsylvania through the hobby of model railroading. The main is a 40' X 100' scale representation of the tracks between Pittsburgh, Pa. and Cumberland, Md. set in the summer of 1952. The museum also maintains a collection of historical model train sets and authentic railroad related items dating as far back as the beginning of the 20th century.
