Solar Concert Series at Buhl Community Park


The 7th Annual Solar Concert Series is starting another season of family-friendly weekly concerts across from Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

Enjoy Pittsburgh’s own “green” concert series, where the summer sun powers the sound system. Concerts take place every Wednesday at 12:15pm in July and August in front of the Children’s Museum at the Buhl Community Park at Allegheny Square.  On July 2 Chet Vincent (of the Big Bend) performs acoustic folk, blues and rock.

Big Butler Fair

2014 Summer Movie Clubhouse for Kids

 


On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Cinemark Theater in Robinson and Monroeville is offering 10 kids movies (G or PG rated) for $5 if purchased in advance as a package, or $1 per movie at the box office. You also get $1 off the purchase of a Movie Snack Pack with a coupon. All shows start at 10 am. The program runs for 10 weeks, offering a different movie every week. Summer Solstice Soiree
 

Local authors will read from and talk about their recent books in shops in the 500 block of Allegheny River Blvd in Oakmont. Lemonade, cookies, music and book signings will take place in the Courtyard. Those who purchase books will be entered to win a basket containing books and other goodies from the authors and local merchants.

Love Your Block – Fall Grants

On June 16 City representatives will be on hand to discuss and answer any questions about the fall round of Love Your Block applications. For fall, the City will award up to $1,000 to purchase supplies and tools to implement a block improvement project. There are minor changes from last season's program and Monday's meeting is a chance for representatives to field any questions or concerns from applicants.  Read more here

Carnegie Science Center’s “Snowball Day”

Did you put that snowball in the freezer like I suggested? Now’s the time to bring it to the Carnegie Science Center and name your own admission price!
