From Sirens to Suffragettes -Talk at the Frick Art and History Center

French-trained American artist Charles Courtney Curran (1861–1942) is known for his sparkling canvases of women in gardens and other outdoor settings. Curran brought the broken brushstrokes and sun-drenched palette of French Impressionist painting to a distinctly American landscape

In this free talk, presented by Director of Curatorial Affairs Sarah Hall, you'll learn a bit about some of the real women behind Charles Courtney Curran's (1861–1942) canvases, and also take a fun and fast-paced look at other enduring images of femininity, femmes fatales, and female strength, as we compare Curran's imagery to that of other artists of the period.

When: Thursday, Nov 13 at noon
Where: Frick Art and History Center, 7227 Reynolds 15208
