You’re invited to watch Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown” Pittsburgh episode in style at the AMC Loews Waterfront theater Sunday night.

Doors open for the free premiere party at 7:30 p.m. “Parts Unknown” airs live at 9 p.m. on CNN. In addition to watching the episode, the audience will be able to ask questions of some of the chefs featured in the show, including Kevin Sousa of Superior Motors, Justin Severino of Morcilla and Cure and Jamilka Borges of Spoon.

Heritage Brass Concert - Sunday at 3pm


The 25th anniversary season of Music in a Great Space continues with Heritage Brass on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at 3:00 p.m.

The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band presents Heritage Brass, bringing the military tradition of brass and percussion to a concert offered in conjunction with the Shadyside House Tour. A pioneering symphonic brass ensemble comprised of ten brass players and a percussionist, Heritage Brass performs exhilarating yet intimate performances of a diverse repertoire, featuring orchestral transcriptions, patriotic favorites, jazz standards, new compositions, and distinctive arrangements. Take flight musically with these professional Airman-musicians, and let the power of music leave you feeling sky high!

It is important that we show Pittsburgh how much we love our city and appreciate its support, and give back whenever we can,” says Day of Music organizer and PSO flutist Rhian Kenny.

Orchestra members are hitting the road on Tuesday for their second annual day of free music. Musicians will perform at 13 venues from at 8:30 am at WQED studios in Oakland and end at 7 p.m. at Canterbury Place in Lawrenceville.

Inside the Gothic Revival First Lutheran Church, see 2,000 pipes in the massive Casavant organ, view a 1765 Luther Bible and ring the tower bells. Head to the oldest surviving bank on Fourth Ave. to see the Beaux Arts boardroom, giant lions carved by Max Kohler and vintage accounting machines. Meander through the lagering caves at Penn Brewery, view the City-County Building’s rarely opened vault and peer into a 40-foot Tiffany glass dome inside the magnificent Union Trust Building.

International Film Series at Pitt - Oct 20-21


The University Center for International Studies at Pitt is presenting a series of films on the theme about displaced persons at the Frick Fine Arts auditorium. Click here for a schedule and trailers.

One of the films portrays the King of the Belgians on a state visit in Istanbul when his country falls apart. He must return home at once to save his kingdom. But a solar storm causes airspace and communications to shut down. No planes. No phones. With the help of a British filmmaker and a troupe of Bulgarian folk singers, the King and his entourage manage to escape over the border. Incognito. Thus begins an odyssey across the Balkans during which the King discovers the real world - and his true self.
