One Last Outdoor Movie this Summer

I know I've written about Cinema in the Park before but the last one is tomorrow night.

Sacred Heart Young Adult Group in conjunction with Oakland Young Adult Group invites you to "Cinema in the Park" on August 31. Bring a blanket and a snack, invite a friend, and watch  Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (PG-13)! Gather at 7.30, the movie will start at dusk (approx. 7.45). Running time is 2h15.

Little Italy Days

Bloomfield once again honors its proud cultural heritage with Little Italy Days. The festival will feature four days of food, crafts, games and free entertainment along the neighborhood's bustling Liberty Avenue business district. Families can sample a variety of Italian and non-Italian cuisine, take in the annual bocce tournament, or check out the many neighborhood shops and restaurants.

In Bed BY Ten Family Dance Party

In Bed by Ten has taken Pittsburgh by storm with jam-packed dance parties that start and end early. 

In Bed by Ten will have you up on your feet right after dinner, and home in bed by ten. Normally an adults-only event, the Frick is happy to be In Bed by Ten’s first outdoor all-ages, family-friendly venue.

Cheer for a game of baseball, 19th c style


Come watch a “base ball” (originally written as two words) game between the Somerset Frosty Sons of Thunder and the Addison Mountain Stars, who will wear vintage uniforms and follow the rules commonly used during the 1860s.
Enjoy food and fun in the 19th century American tradition.

The annual Manchester House + Garden tour is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7.


The tour features 12 homes and one community garden. New to the tour this year is the former home of Col. James Anderson, a pioneer in iron manufacturing who served in the War of 1812.Some of the most historic homes on Pittsburgh’s North Side, including a mansion once frequented by Andrew Carnegie, will be open to the public this weekend.
