CMU International  Film Festival

Entering its 11th year, the CMU IFF wants to encourage and provoke contemporary conversations about race, sexuality, gender, and ethnicity through its 2017 theme, “Faces of Identity.” How we address and insist upon identity-awareness impacts the pursuit of universal tolerance. In order to live the identities we nurture, there must be dialogue - dialogue to confront obstacles to changing the world’s foundations to foster the individual.

The Festival presents selected films that contribute to local, national, and international discussions regarding how we identify ourselves and the many ways in which our notions of identity have changed global culture and vice versa. As is part of the Festival’s mission, these film events will inspire questions and dialogue regarding how communities like those in Pittsburgh can better encourage and support evolving definitions of identity.
