Glassblowing demonstrations with ASL interpretation will be ongoing throughout the day, plus hands-on activities will be available throughout the day. The event is free and open to the public.
Making Dream Pouches
Participants will learn to create beaded packets that contain their prayers, wishes, hopes or dreams. The activity begins with a short meditation or reflection on a prayer, dream, or aspiration. Personal reflections will be written down on paper. Next, the paper reflections will be folded and placed inside a cloth encasement that will be embellished with ornate beads and stitching. Techniques for assembling the Dream Pouches will be shown based on the age and skill level of the participants. Various beading techniques will also be shown to embellish each piece.
