Symphony Orchestra Happy Hour 
The Symphony Orchestra's popular happy hour Play N'at chamber concert series returns! Join musicians of the Pittsburgh Symphony; Creative Director of FUSE@PSO, Steve Hackman; and artist Baron Batch for a lively evening of music, art, socializing and fun. 
 The evening features  lassical chamber music – including cross-genre music arrangements by Steve Hackman and Baron Batch's live painting inspired by the music. Experience the creative process up close in one of the city's most popular concert spots in the Southside – the Rex Theatre (1602 E Carson)

Vegetarian Indian Cook Class Series   

This 4-week course, hosted by Jayashree Iyengar of Popping Mustard Seeds, teaches the basics of Indian Cuisine. You will prepare and eat her delicious recipes and she'll teach you about the ingredients you are using. Each week the class will prepare an appetizer, a grain, a saucy vegetable dish, a dry vegetable dish, and a yogurt/salad dish. At the end of each class you will get to sit and enjoy the meal you prepared and you be able to make the recipes for your friends & family.  

BYOB - The Pittsburgh Public Market does have a winery, a brewery, and a kombucha bar to stock up at before class!

Tour or Walk the Allegheny Cemetery

One of Pittsburgh's largest, oldest and most picturesque cemeteries. More than 125,000 are interred in the 300 acre garden, including composer Stephen Foster, actress Lillian Russell Moore, Civil War veteran General Alexander Hays, Thomas Mellon and 22 Pittsburgh mayors. The Cemetery is beautiful all year - particularly in the spring and fall.

Free Beginner Mountain Biking - Roadtrip to Forbes State Forest - Saturday, August 29

Interested in mountain biking but not sure what it entails? Meet at the Laurel Mountain warming hut to learn more. After the instructional portion of the program, you will go on an easy, 3 mi. bike ride on some of Forbes' trails. Loaner bikes will be available through registration.

Tours of this working research facility begin with a short slide or film presentation and continue with a walking tour that ends at the 13″ Fitz-Clark refractor telescope.  If it’s a clear night, you’ll see whatever is within the telescope’s range.  Tours are free but reservations are required.  Call 412-321-2400 between 1:00 and 5:00 Monday through Friday to reserve your spot.  Tours are more adult oriented, however children aged 7 and older may attend

Run Around the Square - Aug 22

Run Around the Square is now the largest neighborhood footrace in Pittsburgh. It is operated as a fundraiser for local nonprofits supporting the Regent Square Community.  In 2013, the race donated $32,000 to local nonprofits. 

As a participant you will receive a ‘Welcome’ email invitation to the Virtual Goody Bag prior to the event with access to the bag. In the bag you will find an array of valuable information including exclusive offers, coupons, giveaways and messages from  sponsors.After the event, participants will receive a ‘Thank You’ email invitation to visit their bag and have a final opportunity to take advantage of the offers and goodies before the bag closes. Registration must by completed (online!) by August 19. National Night Out started as a porch light vigil, representing each participating community’s awareness of crime and their commitment to preventing it. Porch lights were left on as a warning to criminals that crime was not welcome in the community.
