history lesson

If you’ve ever walked downtown and found yourself stopping to take in the beauty of the Omni William Penn Hotel or marveling at famed architect H.H. Richardson’s Romanesque Revival design for the Allegheny County Courthouse, then this tour is for you.

On Friday, May 1, the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation will offer a noontime, one-hour walking tour of the major historic buildings and modern skyscrapers along Grant Street.

The bevy of beautiful buildings on the tour includes the previously mentioned Allegheny County Courthouse and Omni William Penn Hotel, as well as the City-County Building, Frick Building and the Union Trust Building.

The tour is free, but advance reservations are appreciated. To reserve your spot, contact Mary Lu Denny at the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation, 412/471-5808, ext. 527, marylu@phlf.org
