We Remember: A Tribute to the Inner Life of Anne Frank
Sunday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m.
This memorable concert pairs contralto Daphne Alderson and pianist Norma Meyer in their moving musical tribute to the young girl whose indomitable spirit survived and soared beyond her death in a Nazi concentration camp in 1945.Deeply informed by Anne Frank’s remarkable and beloved Diary,as well as the eternal reverberations of the Holocaust, this carefully cultivated performance incorporates compositions by Gustav Mahler, Leo Smit, Michael Cohen, Harry Burleigh, and Pittsburgh composer Douglas Levine’s musical setting of Maya Angelou’s poem Alone.
A dessert reception with the performers follows the concert. Complimentary shuttle service will be available from the Carnegie Municipal Lot on Main Street (between Mary and Pine Streets).
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and $5 for students.
