Battle Reenactement

2017 marks the 72th Anniversary of this historic battle. 2017 marks the 9th year of the reenactement at Tidioute.

The 9th Annual Bridge at Remagen Battle Reenactment is Saturday August 5th 3:00 p.m.

The battle takes place on a 551ft steel girder bridge similar to the original Ludendoff bridge. Camps are open to public on Friday evening Aug. 4 and on Saturday from about 11:00 till 2:00 p.m., and also after the battle, on Sat.

The event sounds interesting to me but there are many details on the website that are likely interesting to military history buffs so please check there.

Check out the Unlandmarks Map, an interactive website that tracks trees, buildings, restaurants and anything that once stood and is no more. Just like in any city, people in Pittsburgh rely on landmarks to get from one place to another, but in Pittsburgh, it doesn’t matter if the landmark exists anymore. Folks still use them to give directions.

The concept is the inspiration behind the new Unlandmarks Map, an interactive website that tracks trees, buildings, restaurants and anything that once stood and is no more. The map is a project by Code for Pittsburgh, the local Code for America group, for which Sites-Bowen is the head. They work with cities to create computer programs and codes that help government run more efficiently. But Sites-Bowen said every once in a while they do something a little more whimsical, like a Fish Fry map.
The team will be taking submissions on a rolling basis and will keep most of the data they collect in the public domain.  Propose an Unlandmark
