Culture Club: If these walls could talk

Happy Hour has never been so interesting. Start with a drink at 5:30 p.m. and then join in a salon-style conversation in the galleries. “If these walls could talk…” with Dan Byers, assistant curator of contemporary art, Chris Craychee, supervisor, installation and preparation, and members of the museum’s art handling crew.

Observatory SkyWatch Evenings at the Science Center



The Carnegie Science Center invites you to learn about the wonders of the stars and explore globular clusters, nebulas and planets with their 16-inch Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope!

Volunteers from the Amateur Astronomers Association will show you the ropes as you get a spectacular view of outer space…for only $1!

Parking is $5 for non members and $3 for members


 Location: Carnegie Science Center (1st Floor – A guide will lead you to the observatory on the first floor for a mesmerizing view of the Point and Downtown Pittsburgh).
Date: On clear Friday  & Saturday evenings, weather permitting
Time: Times change seasonally depending on when it gets dark

Free Admission to the Carnegie Museums, Thursdays in March, 4-8pm

Admission to Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History is free to all visitors 4–8 p.m. every Thursday in March.
Normal parking fees apply. Parking is $5 per car after 4 pm.
Admission to paid Carnegie Museum of Art and Carnegie Museum of Natural History programs is not included.

Catch The Pittsburgh Banjo Club for FREE

Catch The Pittsburgh Banjo Club for free every Wednesday night from 8pm until 11pm.  It’s an open rehearsal and sign-along.

The Pittsburgh Banjo Club’s weekly rehearsal is supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

“Bound Together” Book Club – Venetia Porter’s The Art of Hajj


In this collaboration between Carnegie Museum of Art and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, each month brings a new book selection related to a work of art. Begin with a 15-minute gallery talk highlighting visual and literary connections. Then, converse with fellow readers and library staff.  This month’s book selection is Venetia Porter’s The Art of Hajj.
