Flamenco dance, the most famous export of Spain's Andalusia region, will take center stage Thu., Jan. 23, at North Side's New Hazlett Theater — the latest, and largest, celebration of Flamenco Pittsburgh's bi-annual Fiesta Flamenca. The show begins at 7:30, doors open at 6:30.
The evening showcases Pittsburgh’s Alba Flamenca ensemble and
guest artists Erik Lawrence, Phat Man Dee, and Olivia Kissel.
Join us for a
journey through North African rhythms, Middle Eastern melodies, and European
harmonies, in the understanding of flamenco as a hybrid art form encompassing
centuries of cultural appropriation as Spanish gypsies escaped persecution.
Tickets
are $15 advance, $20 at the door
