Stitching History from the Holocaust

Opening for the first time in Pittsburgh, the traveling exhibit “Stitching History from the Holocaust” tells the heartbreaking story of a young female Jewish fashion designer who was desperate to win a visa and escape the Nazis in her native Czechoslovakia. Her attempt failed, and she was murdered; but nearly 70 years later, a decision was made to bring her dusty designs to life, and her fashion-forward clothing collection of dresses, hats, gloves and coats will be on display at the Pittsburgh Holocaust Center in a testament to remembering all of those whose talent we lost because of hate.

Stitching History will feature extended gallery hours beyond regular hours on Monday/Wednesday 10am-4:30pm and Friday 10am-2pm.
Additional hours:
Thursday, Nov. 29 – 4:00-7:00
Thursday, Dec. 6 – 4:00-7:00
Sunday, Dec. 9 – 1:00-4:00

Westmoreland Museum of American Art

Starting Nov 3 donations are no longer requested from visitors.

Beautifully updated and not that far from Pittsburgh - the Westmoreland is a great place to take your holiday visitors - especially if they've already been to the Carnegie Museums!

The Greensburg museum dropped its suggested-donation policy in order to become accessible to all, says president and CEO Anne Kraybill. The decision also had to do indirectly with the Tree of Life synagogue shootings. After coming to Greensburg, she says, her mind was made up on Oct. 29, when she and other museum staff attended a vigil in Greensburg for the 11 victims of the Tree of Life shootings. Find out more about the Museum.
